#13: A little primer on Venus Retrograde in Leo
so much to say and it's all going to wait until next week :)
Upcoming Astrology:
There are plenty of week ahead resources out there (the CHANI podcast is a good one), so I thought it might be more fun to read a focused interpretation of one dynamic in the sky.
Venus retrograde in Leo: I’m going to talk a lot more about this next week in the context of my reaction to seeing the Barbie movie (just now realizing I don’t know… is it just called Barbie ?). For now, here’s a little something.
Venus retrogrades every 18 months or so. The five locations in the sky that happens have been more or less consistent for a very very long time and if you connect them with lines they make a perfect five pointed star. The last Venus retrograde happened in Capricorn, almost exactly opposite where it’s happening now, in Leo.
Worldwide, we’d expect events that demonstrate Venus and Leo blending, a combination of the sweet, lovely, beautiful, connecting, joy of Venus and the shining, bright, gilded, spotlight of Leo. Add in retrograde themes of unraveling, review, and revelation, and you’ve got an idea of what to look for. Venus is currently sharing the Sun’s sign at the Sun’s strongest and hottest, though she’ll remain in Leo until October when the Sun has already moved on.
For now, you can consider how Venus’s backward journey is showing up for you. Venus likes connection and when Venus goes retrograde it’s an opportunity to take a more honest look at what’s happening underneath the surface. As usual, you’ll want to find where it’s happening in your chart, consider the house it’s impacting, and reflect on those themes. If Leo is your 7th House (relationships), you might take this opportunity to consider what balance really means for you and where you might be sacrificing authentic connection for superficial peace. If Leo is your 10th House (career), apply the same concept to your work and ask yourself: What story do I tell about my place in the world? Is there room to shift things to be more aligned with my actual values?
Big questions, and nothing you need to hurry up and resolve. Like always, the astrology can just be a helpful nudge to look at areas of life you might not have looked at with intention recently.
I’ve gone a few weeks without writing a newsletter because I’m moving this weekend and was traveling a bunch and I have some longer ones planned the next two weeks so this week you just get these pictures of work by Niki De Saint Phalle. They’re giving me Venus Retrograde in Leo (though I believe she was a Scorpio Sun and Rising with an Aquarius Moon). Her career point (MC) was in Leo, so it makes sense we’d see her legacy carry a bright and colorful Leo signature.

Always a lot of credit goes to the people who have been my teachers, both directly and through their freely shared knowledge, and so many books.
